This second table looks in a bit more depth at 5 groups of
properties comparing jan-dec in 2009, 2010 and 2011 the first
two groups being in Peterborough District .. which is Peterborough City in the database the other
3 groups are in the Rural District ... which is Peterborough County when
comparing jan-dec 2011 to jan-dec 2010 number of properties sold is down in 4 categories but the average selling price is still up in 3 categories and the average
days on the market to sell is up in 3 categories and down in 2 categories
the chart at the bottom shows the number of singlefamily "power of
Sales" properties sold each year in our area these are typically properties
where the mortgage payments were in arrears, and the bank/mortgagor has forced the sale of the property the very low number of "power of sales" in 2004 & 2005 when the numbers each year were just 5 and 4,
contrasts quite markedly with the peak of 35 "power of sales" in 2009..... 2010 has ended the year at
32, and 2011 at 21 ... let us hope that we will continue to see the numbers quickly fall back over the next few years
towards the 2005 number of just 4 ....this should happen as long as there is not another major financial crisis in the world
over the next few years. interestingly
the previous peak of 30 in 1999, came towards the end of the last housing recession that lasted 10 years from approx
1990 to 2000...
